Married Women's hair style (1) by Glimja Married Women's hair style (1) by Glimja
In early Joseon Dynasty,
Korean married women used very big and heavy wigs named "Gache",
to do up their hairs splendidly.

Women thought that
the higher and bigger wig means more beauty and power.

※ You Need To Know This Point.
Joseon dynasty, about 500 years, is not short period.
VERY MANY things had changed and turned.
So is the costume and word.
therefore a few designations overlap or mixed with other word,
or one word refer to several hair styles.

Well,
I tried to make you see the most accurate information possible ^_^

Thank you once again for your time and effort to do another wonderful information chart! Your illustrations are so pretty and clean, and the information is so interesting! I really like how you put the wig with different colors on side of each "finished look", so we can see the braided layers...

Amazing!

Again so amazing! :D

And the ladies also had to rest with their heads on wooden or porcelain pillows, I guess – like the Chinese, just to keep their hair in order at night...

Yes, they need to rest their heavy hair on somewhere,
or they occasionally broke the neck TT

But they usually did up their hair like this, even in all daytime.
Maybe beauty rather than pain...!!

It sounds painful....
Greed for beauty kill the women, maybe whenever...!!
