Description

Women's Gache was followed by various evils.

The price of Gache was from one bull to one mansion set.
Ladies' extravagance had been getting worse.
(Recall rococo hair fashion in Europe)
And women broke their neck because of it's heaviness once in a while.

So, a king named Yeoung-Jo decided
to prohibit using Gache. (in 1756)
(enactment, by Jeong-Jo, in 1778)

But women still liked Gache,
or started to do up their hair with Jjok and other new hair style.

※ You Need To Know This Point.
Joseon dynasty, about 500 years, is not short period.
VERY MANY things had changed and turned.
So is the costume and word.
therefore a few designations overlap or mixed with other word,
or one word refer to several hair styles.
